Our Pizzeria History

Our Story

Murmur Forest Lane began in 2010 when our founder, Marco Rossi, decided to bring his family's traditional Neapolitan pizza recipes from Naples to the heart of England. After years of training in his hometown's most respected pizzerias, Marco had one dream: to create authentic Italian pizza that honored his heritage while embracing local British ingredients.

Starting with a small pop-up operation at local food markets, Marco's pizzas quickly gained a devoted following. The combination of his meticulously fermented dough, carefully sourced ingredients, and the unmistakable char from a wood-fired oven created pizzas that stood apart from anything else available locally.

In 2012, we opened our first permanent location, a cozy 30-seat restaurant that frequently had lines out the door. As our reputation grew, so did our operation, allowing us to move to our current larger premises in 2015 without ever compromising on the quality and authenticity that made us beloved in the first place.

Today, Murmur Forest Lane continues to be a family-run business dedicated to the art of pizza making. While we've expanded our menu to include a variety of Italian specialties, our wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas remain at the heart of everything we do.

Our Philosophy

Local Sourcing

Whenever possible, we source our ingredients from local farmers and producers, supporting our community while ensuring the freshest flavors. Our flour, however, is imported directly from Italy to maintain authentic texture and flavor in our dough.

Traditional Methods

We believe in respecting traditional pizza-making techniques. Our dough ferments for a minimum of 24 hours, developing complex flavors and a perfect texture. We cook exclusively in our wood-fired oven, imported from Naples, which reaches temperatures of 850°F for that authentic char.

Sustainable Practices

We're committed to minimizing our environmental impact. From our biodegradable takeaway packaging to our comprehensive recycling program and energy-efficient equipment, we strive to make responsible choices at every step of our operation.

Community Focus

We believe a great pizzeria should be a cornerstone of its community. We regularly participate in local events, sponsor youth sports teams, and host fundraisers for area schools and charities. Our restaurant is designed to be a welcoming gathering place for all.

With 20+ years of experience, Sophia brought her family's traditional Neapolitan recipes from Italy to create Murmur Forest Lane. Her dedication to authentic methods and quality ingredients is the foundation of everything we do.

Executive Chef

Elena trained in Rome before joining Murmur Forest Lane in 2015. She oversees our entire culinary operation, developing seasonal specials and ensuring consistent quality across every dish that leaves our kitchen.

Antonio has been perfecting his craft for over 15 years. His expertise in dough fermentation and wood-fired oven techniques ensures every pizza has that perfect Neapolitan crust – thin in the center with a puffy, charred cornicione.

Our 80-seat restaurant combines rustic Italian charm with contemporary comfort. The open-plan design allows diners to watch our pizzaiolos work their magic at the wood-fired oven, which forms the centerpiece of our space.

The interior features reclaimed wood tables, warm lighting, and traditional Italian ceramics, creating an atmosphere that's both authentic and welcoming. In warmer months, our outdoor terrace offers al fresco dining surrounded by herb planters that provide fresh ingredients for our kitchen.
